Halle Berry reveals why she had to shave her daughter’s hair

Berry explained that while under quarantine her two children, Nahla and Maceo-Robert, have been spending a little too much time swimming in their home pool. All that time in the water eventually took a toll on Nahla’s hair.
Halle Berry taught her 12-year-old-daughter Nahla that sometimes the toughest beauty lessons become the most valuable. During a virtual at-home edition of The Tonight Show, the actor revealed to host Jimmy Fallon that she recently had to shave the back of her daughter’s head after chlorine caused a tangle too tight to brush through.

“We’re doing her homework the other night and [Nahla] goes, ‘Mom, I’m scared to tell you this, but touch the back of my head.’ All her hair, which goes past her shoulders, has shrunken up into a tight ball that feels like matted fur,” Berry said. “I can’t even get my finger in it, and I’m pulling and she’s screaming.”

To ease her daughter’s distress, Berry tried to stay calm and suggested they just put conditioner on it. But the knot only got tighter after a 30-minute shower. In the end, she had to shave off the knot. “She was not cool with that, but it was our only option,” Berry said.

The Oscar winner went on to explain that she always tries to brush her daughter’s hair, but Nahla usually dismisses her. “Every time I go to comb my daughter’s hair she goes, ‘No, I can handle it. I’m a tween. I don’t need you to brush my hair,’ ” Berry said. Now it seems like Nahla is coming around to her mother’s advice.

“Now she gets it,” Berry said. “I was like, ‘First of all, maybe you’ll let your mother help you. And second of all, you learned you gotta brush your hair. Every day, you gotta brush your hair.'”

I’m a Self-Proclaimed Queen of Cozy, and This “Cloud” Pullover Is All I’m Wearing These Days

I love cozy mystery novels, cozy home decor, and more than anything, cozy loungewear. I don’t mess around with scratchy sweaters, paper-thin sweatpants, or any piece of clothing that commits the cardinal sin of being soft on the outside but uncomfy on the inside. Even before we all started spending a lot more time at home, I was stocked up on fleece-lined slipper socks, fluffy robes, and buttery soft pjs, but after Zoom-ing in the same outfit more days in a row than I’d like to admit, I decided it was time to add another cozy staple to my closet.

Enter: the Aerie Cloud Sherpa Oversized Pullover ($33, originally $55). “Cloud” is right! From the moment this supersoft pillowy pullover touched my body, I knew I’d be living in it for the foreseeable future. Made from 100 percent polyester, it’s the coziest piece of loungewear I own, soft inside and out, and keeps me nice and toasty as I work, puzzle, and read from home. It comes in a wide range of sizes from XXS to XXL, and fits oversize, so I’d recommend ordering your typical size for that relaxed fit. And the best part? It has pockets! Like, the legit kind that you can use for your phone and it won’t fall out. Perfect if you’re pairing it with pocket-less leggings.
