Is Big Hair Making A Comeback?

Although the show marked Fanning’s first official strut down the catwalk, the actress has been a longtime muse for the fashion house, appearing in a slew of campaigns, wearing the brand on the red carpet, and establishing herself as a fixture in the front row at the label’s runway shows.

From the scrunchie to bike shorts and even the fanny pack, it seems like every day there’s another retro, (even cringe-inducing), trend making a major return–and the latest look is certainly the most hair-raising of the bunch, as larger-than-life ’80s hair made a voluminous appearance at the Miu Miu runway show during Paris Fashion Week, where actress Elle Fanning made her runway debut and opened the show.

From satin bow shoes to belted trenches complete with shoulder pads, pops of neon hues and even neckties, the entire Fall 2018 collection evoked major 80s vibes, all which made a prominent return throughout fashion month and officially started at New York Fashion Week–but the big hair definitely had heads turning as the models, (which included Fanning, Georgia May Jagger, and Kaia Gerber, to name a few), sported half-up,half-down bouffants.

Guido Palau, Global Creative Director for Redken, brought the big hair to life for the show, taking to his Instagram to show off an artistic shot of Gerber ready to rock the runway.

More is more was the approach to the beauty look, as the teased styles were topped off with dramatic cat eyes and pink lips, courtesy of makeup artist Pat McGrath.

The latest look is proof that whatever goes around always seems to come back around–big hair included…but are youreally ready for the return of ’80s hair?
