Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will host the Golden Globes 2021 and we couldn’t be happier

The duo previously hosted the Awards from 2013 to 2015 and received widespread recognition for their hilarious on-stage gags and brilliant chemistry. Since then, the actors have starred in various productions together including Mean GirlsSisters and Wine Country.

The Golden Globes may have only just wrapped for 2020, but NBC have already confirmed the hosts for next year. After leading the ceremony for a record five times, Ricky Gervais will be replaced by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey and we, quite frankly, can’t think of a better duo.

“NBC has long been the home to two of the funniest people on the planet – Tina Fey and Amy Poehler – and we didn’t want to wait any longer to share the great news that they’ll be hosting the Globes once again,” revealed Paul Telegdy, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.

The news has divided the internet with many vouching their support for Ricky Gervais who confirmed this year would be his last as host. “I won’t watch , the only interest I had watching was for @rickygervais,” wrote one user. Another said “we love @rickygervais !!! Bring him back! Pay the man! Money talks! Do it! Just Do It!”, whilst one fan hailed Gervais ‘american royalty’ for telling ‘more truth in a few minutes than was told in Hollywood in a generation.”

Others have greeted the news with palpable excitement. “We all know it’s gonna be better than ricky gervais easily,” exclaimed a Twitter user, whilst another wrote: “They should be the PERMANENT hosts. Love Ricky, but I could never love any host more than this duo.”

Amy and Tina are no strangers to the awards ceremony with Fey previously winning two Golden Globes herself for 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live while Poehler swept a Golden Globe for her role in Parks and Recreation.

Though we’re sad to see Ricky go, we cannot wait for this dynamic duo to bring their comedic approach to the Golden Globes 2021.
