I tried a K-Beauty-esque jelly cleanser and it’s the only thing I’ll be using this summer

Jelly cleansers are all the rage in Korean skincare and now they’re making their mark internationally. The fun and fruity limited-edition skincare collection by e. l. f called ‘Jelly Pop’ dropped on July 10th and includes products such as glosses, blush, cleanser, primers and more.

The luminous, watermelon-infused beauty collection is said to be loaded with skin-quenching ingredients to give you hydration and glow for daaays! Watermelon is packed with skin-boosting antioxidants and also helps promote the production of collagen, which is essential for healthy, youthful skin.

“Say buh-bye to makeup, dirt, and oil with this gentle, watermelon-infused gel cleanser,” reads the product’s description.

“It can be used all over the face and eyes to melt away stubborn makeup and cleanse the skin, leaving your face clean, plump, and hydrated. Infused with skin-loving ingredients Watermelon extract and Vitamin B5. ”

I love London but my skin does NOT. Ever since I moved here, my face has been breaking out like crazy and neither spot treatments or face washes seem to be helping. Apart from that, no cleanser has ever taken off all my makeup. I have to go through wipes, makeup removers and toners to strip my skin off all that cake. For this reason, I just had to give the Jelly cleanser a whirl. I was also super intrigued by watermelon as an ingredient after reading about the benefits; if it’s good enough for the trendsetters in Korea, it’s good enough for my face.

The product claims that ‘it can be used all over the face and eyes to melt away stubborn makeup and cleanse the skin, leaving your face clean, plump, and hydrated’. The makers recommended using it on damp skin and massaging in circular motions. I tried the jelly cleanser as part of my night routine and was pleasantly surprised.

Firstly, it smelled amazing; very reminiscent of watermelon jolly ranchers. The consistency was absolutely amazing; light, bouncy and fresh, which is exactly what summer skin craves. I applied the cleanser all over my face and eyes as instructed and although it did nothing for my acne, it removed almost all of my makeup in one go and left my skin feeling soft and quite plump. No stinging or burning. My face was left feeling light, fresh and thoroughly cleansed.

For only £8, this product is a steal. It’s perfect after long summer days to get fresh and hydrated skin. I am adding it to my holiday packing list.
