It’s no secret that things get stressful around the holidays. Your to-do list is longer than ever, the shopping seems endless, and the number of social events your invited to skyrockets, which leads to another source of stress: What do you wear to all these festive fêtes?
A new survey conducted by Finery, a wardrobe managing app, found that 2 in 3 women feel “extremely stressed” when getting dressed for a holiday event. What’s more, 67 percent of women said they typically buy new outfits for holiday parties, adding financial strain to an already expensive season.
But who says holiday dressing has to be so cheerless? Brooklyn Decker and Whitney Casey, founders of Finery, are all about building a confidence-boosting outfit from clothing you already own.
When it comes to the holidays, Casey’s motto is “go big or go home,” while Decker takes more of a laid-back approach. “Whitney Casey and I are the complete opposite here,” says Decker, who admits to waiting until the very last minute to get dressed. “I’m the girl that shows up hoping it’s an ugly sweater party.” The one thing they can both agree on: Always re-wear what’s in your wardrobe.
“We really encourage and have built tech around trying to help women wear the clothes they already have,” Decker says. The Finery app was created to act as your personal wardrobe concierge.
