So while we wait a couple of months for spring to officially kickstart, we find ourselves facing yet another period of ‘transitional dressing’ to contend with.
With Christmas over and done with (sob), we’re officially ready to wave goodbye to winter and welcome spring with open arms. What’s the point in putting up with dark evenings and freezing, unpredictable weather if you’ve not got the prospect of a week off eating mince pies to make it all worthwhile?
No, we’ve got our sights set firmly on next season. But unfortunately the weather has other plans…
Take the last couple of days, for example. We had Storm Brendan wipe us all out with 80mph winds and lashings of rain to welcome in the new week, but today we’re basking in double digit temperatures and sunshine (wearing coats, obv). It may still be January, but we think the old transitional wardrobe may need to be opened up earlier than planned.
Which is fine, when the likes of ASOS rustle up pieces that make the often-dreaded mid-season a total breeze. This checked coat is one such piece.
Substantial enough to act as a legitimately cosy coat atop a roll-neck on chillier days, but cool and loose enough to be thrown over a white t-shirt and jeans on milder ones, it’s the perfect transitional piece.
Now that the practicalities are out of the way, just LOOK at this coat.
At £95, the long duster length, the broad checks, the wide lapels, the neon accents – it’s the very epitome of a modern twist on a classic. And we can’t get enough of it. It’s lucky, therefore, that we’ll be seeing a lot more of it over the next couple of months…
If our sartorial antenna is still on point, we’re pre-empting that this coat will pop up on our Instagram feeds countless times as we move into spring. You’ll have to act quick if you want to be one of those posting – we’re predicting a sell-out.
