Here’s what the GLAMOUR team is snapping up from M&S’ incredible AW19 collection

After falling out of the FTSE100 list of Britain’s biggest companies, thankfully the retailer has lived up to our (rather high) expectations courtesy of its AW19collection, which GLAMOUR was treated to a first look at.

Whether it’s sending the internet into a frenzy with a sell-out style (lest we forget that galactic print dress), or serving up the season’s staple coat collection, M&S is the high street stalwart that keeps on giving.

A true celebration of women and inclusive design, the extensive collection aims to offer shoppers from all walks of life clothes that make them feel ‘relevant, modern and stylish’, Jill Stanton, director of womenswear and kidswear, and Lisa Ilis, head of womenswear design, told GLAMOUR at the preview.

The team have really listened to their customer and refreshed key pieces and styles to suit their needs.

“Optimistic prints, beautiful feminine shapes and high-low mixing are key. Our customer loves tactile fabrics so we really wanted to play that up,” they explained.

Head-to-toe tailoring is paired with trainers for a modern and androgynous touch, feminine 70s-inspired pussybow blouses are offset with denim and python mules. Holly Willoughby is such a fan of a floral print dress that she dons it in the campaign and the unexpected pairing of a trophy knit with pleated skirt is a sartorial hit we’ll be championing come Autumn here at GLAMOUR HQ.

The classic cardi looks set to make a comeback with a refined neckline, alongside colourblock knits and unlined throw-on coats for the perfect transitional cover-up. As always, outerwear is a key focus for the store and there’s plenty of iterations of that. Long-lined teddy bear coats and lightweight puffa jackets will be available alongside rounded drop shouldered coats in a plethora of colourways so they’ll be a cover-up for every taste.

M&S boasts the market share of denim and has delivered by the bucketload with its new drop: a collection of £29. 50 super soft jeans in three fits and hues aplenty, from washed-out grey to vintage blues.

As always, a shop of the new collection won’t break the bank with prices starting from just £4. 50 for a pure cotton tee to £99 for a wool blend coat.

Here, the GLAMOUR team picks the one key piece they’ll each be snapping up from the AW19 collection. Race you to the checkout…
