Joe and Anthony Russo, the filmmakers behind theAvengers: EndgameandInfinity War, are set to produce the remake, while while action aficionado Dave Callaham (Expendables) will pen the script. While there’s no confirmed news on the director, big names like Jon Favreau are being thrown in the mix.
In today’s positive news to lift your lockdown blues: Disney’s Hercules is officially getting a live-action remake.
Everyone’s favourite 1997 animated classic, which saw the Greek myth brought to life in all its gospel-style musical glory, will be reimagined for the big screen, it was confirmed by Hollywood Reporter on April 30th.
No news on cast yet either, but fans are going wild on social media trying to guess who will play despicable lord of the underworld Hades (voiced by James Woods in 1997), sassy heroine Megara, Danny DeVito-voiced Phil, the Muses, and of course, Hercules himself.
As Hercules is responsible for some of Disney’s most popular songs ever (remember feminist anthem ‘I Won’t Say (I’m In Love)’, ballad hit ‘Go The Distance’ and 10/10 gospel banger ‘Zero To Hero’? ), fans are certain that some of the biggest names in music will take the lead roles.
While some are hoping that Zendaya will take on the role of Meg, many fans are campaigning for Ariana Grande to take the lead, especially after her incredible rendition of ‘I Won’t Say (I’m In Love)’ last month. And despite being huge Zendaya stans at GLAMOUR HQ, after watching the video, we have to agree…
The Muses will undoubtedly see some famous female singers step up, with names like Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson and Amber Riley being thrown around on social media (just imagine that rendition of ‘Zero To Hero’! )
