GLAMOUR columnist Nikki Wolff shares her perfect Christmas party beauty look

The party season is the perfect time to experiment with adding a little more sparkle and shine to your makeup.

If you’re not usually a makeup wearer, now is your time to take risks and have a little fun… anything goes!

Makeup is one of the most exciting and versatile forms of self expression and a way to get creative which is perfect for this time of year!

To achieve a chic and simple festive look, I like to take just one feature, and make it really pop for maximum impact.

Choose the area you want to emphasise and plan your look around that.

For example, pair super glowy skin with a simple liquid liner and an ultra matte red pout. I’m a little obsessed with the texture of Nars Powermatte lip pigment – it looks like pure pigment on the lips, the colour pay-off is incredible and although it’s totally matte, it doesn’t feel drying!

If you like to emphasise your eyes, adding a little glitter to your look is the perfect way to get noticed. There are so many gorgeous shimmery shadows on the market; Stila liquid eyeshadows are sparkly, easy to use and so much fun. Try adding a touch of glitter to the centre of your eyelid after applying your favourite eyeshadow. This is the perfect way to add some je ne sais quoi to your tried and tested look and really make your eyes stand out.

Or why not create a smudgy smokey eye using a dark brown eye kohl and a little shadow to set and then finish your look with a sparkly glossy lip? Becca Glow Glosses are very pretty and easy to wear.

Don’t be afraid to play with textures that you may not normally use. A little lip gloss on your lids and tons of waterproof mascara makes a sleek and gorgeous pairing.

Pressing a little glitter into your favourite lippy changes the texture of the look and is super fun too.

You get the idea – a little shine and sparkle, just focusing on one area, adds a fun touch to your look that’ll get you noticed and feeling festive, whilst keeping it classy (even whilst you’re dancing under the table)

My top tip- invest in some great skincare to give your skin a little TLC. Those late nights and glasses of mulled wine can take their toll! Masking is an easy way of putting some love back into your skin.

I love QMS medicosmetics Hydro Foam Mask- it helps provide similar benefits to those you get after a good night’s sleep.

I also adore sheet masks, they’re fun and hassle free. 111skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask is packed full of great ingredients and is so gorgeous you’ll be tempted to wear it out!
