Girl having a tough time gets a side of encouragement from takeout restaurant

Life is full of peaks and troughs, successes and failures. We hope and try to keep ourselves hitting those high notes more often than the lows. But life can be difficult, and at times we come up short of our expectations – we underperform or feel like failures who are unable to conquer a seemingly insurmountable task.

To quote William Hurt in Lawrence Kasdan’s 1981 film Body Heat: “Sometimes the sh*t comes down so heavy I feel like I should wear a hat.”

A girl named Catalina had failed her UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admission Test) and was searching for support to help lift her up.

She found her support from an unlikely source… her local takeout restaurant, Jollibee.

In the special request section of her order, she asked for a comforting note to accompany her meal…

She didn’t just get a note, she received 6 notes and a text.

“JK Rowling got rejected 12 times before she finally wrote and published Harry Potter

Beyonce had to make hundreds of songs to get HALO

The greatest successes come from having the freedom to FAIL. Kaya mo yan (you can do it).”

“The struggle you’re in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow… DON’T GIVE UP.”

“Stop worrying about what you have to lose and start focusing on what you have to gain.”

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated.”

“I am not failed. My success is just postponed.”

“There is no wine if grapes are not pressed, no perfume if flowers are not crushed. If you feel any pressure in life, it means God is bringing the best out of you.”

Feeling like you’re supported and not alone in a fight can provide a turbo boost out of the gutter. It’s nice to see people pay attention to small actions of kindness and positivity that can make a big difference in someone’s day. The mindset is infectious and can have a ripple effect that reaches more people than we realize. You’ve got this Catalina! We’re sure you’ll crush the UPCAT next time around!“Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement.” – C.S. Lewish/t: Distractify
