Forbes’ Highest-Paid Women In Music 2017 List Released and The Top Name Will Not Surprise You

Women have been taking the music industry by storm – topping charts, selling out stadium tours, sweeping award shows, and making money moves – and Forbes just released their annual list of the World’s Highest Paid Women in Music.

Topping the chart isnone other than the Queen Bey herself, knocking Taylor Swift from the top spot.

According to Forbes, Beyoncé raked in $105 million pretax this year. This is nearly twice her earnings from last year, catapulting her fromthe fifth spot to take the lead. Much of it can be credited to the singer-songwriter’s critically-acclaimed album Lemonade and stadium tour that followed.

Although it didn’t land her the Grammy for Album of the Year, Lemonade gave Beyoncé her sixth solo No. 1, and got a whole lot more bees swarming to her hive. The Formation World Tour, her seventh concert tour to date, ranked at No. 2 onPollstar’s2016 Year End Tours chart and grossed a quarter of a billion dollars. Yes, billion with a B.

Funnily enough, the runner up is Adele, who dedicated her Grammy for Album of the Year in February toBeyoncé. She earned $69 million with her nightly on-tour performances – her first “proper tour” since 2011 – each grossing seven figures. This is her second year in a row at No. 2 on the list. Others in the top five includeTaylor Swift ($44 million), Celine Dion ($42 million), and Jennifer Lopez ($38 million).

With all these power-players making huge financial strides in the music industry, we can’t wait to see what the year ahead has in store. Next up for Beyoncé? She’s starring as the voice ofNala in the live-action ‘Lion King’ reboot!

Forbes compiled “The World’s Highest-Paid Women In Music” list by looking at each candidate’s pretax income between June 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017. They did not deduct fees each woman may have paid to employees and/or agencies. You can see the full list of 10 women at Forbes. com.
