While the Oscars were only just beginning to be handed out, there was a whole other red carpet kicking off right across town.
Not an entirely separate affair, however, it was the official Oscars after party hosted each year by Vanity Fair.
And while the hosts waited for the likes of Lady Gaga, Irina Shayk, Brie Larson and Emma Stone to make their entrances once the official ceremony had closed, the red carpet welcomed guests who had (some may say wisely!) skipped the main event in favour of an early arrival at the after party.
First dibs on canapés sounds like a winning formula to us…
One of the first to walk the red carpet was Elizabeth Banks, who opted for an unusual – but stunning – punchy tomato red two-piece. A cropped top with puffed sleeves sat atop a high-waisted, voluminous, floor-length skirt, while her makeup look consisted of a vibrant pink lip clashing unconventionally, but brilliantly, with her outfit.
Jessica Alba was another early arrival, opting for a more muted look via a black one-shoulder gown with sash, which she paired with a low-key black tote bag and dramatic silver hooped earrings.
