The £39.99 number has become so popular that it even has its own Intstagram account, @hot4thespot, which is dedicated to re-posting sightings of the summer’s most popular piece. (Bonus points for getting more than one sighting in a single image).
This summer has split dress-wearers into two groups; those *with* the spotted Zara number, and those too afraid to buy it in fear of standing amongst fifteen other women wearing the same.
But while #twinning is nothing more than a humorous incident providing the perfect ice-breaker in social situations, for others it is the ultimate sartorial sin.
So how do you go about finding a dress alternative enough to practically ensure you’ll not bump into anyone else wearing it, but chic enough that you love it? Just because you’re not keen on twinning, doesn’t mean you’re willing to sacrifice your lewk, right?
We’d suggest the first, and most important rule, is to unfortunately forgo the high street staples. Not forever (God forbid!), but whilst on this particular quest – likely before a big event – it’s best to go with lesser known brands.
No less chic, these labels are the ones that you no doubt see occasionally on Instagram, admire, but rarely bite the bullet and plump for. We’re talking LoveShackFancy, PAPER London, Bimba Y Lola, Bernadette… you catch our drift.
If you’re entirely terrified of straying from your comfort zone of stores, then it’s a good idea to opt for something a little more unusual that might scare off the regular buyers. If you’re questioning if it’s too punchy for you, then chances are everyone else is. Go forth and be brave. We believe in you.

In which case we can only apologise.
