Drew Barrymore doesn’t give her children Christmas presents—but that doesn’t make her a Grinch. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor opened up about the family tradition that replaced gifts under the tree.
«I always take them on a trip every Christmas. I don’t get them presents, which I think at their ages they don’t love, but I say, ‘I think we’ll remember the place and the photos and the experience, and that’s what I want to give you,’» Barrymore said. «They get plenty of things throughout the year, so I’m not like some weird, strict, cold mum who’s like, ‘You don’t get any gifts! ’ I just feel like a better gift would be a life memory. I’d rather invest in that than in a doll house or something. It all evens out, and it’s fine. »
The talk show host shares two daughters—ten-year-old Olive and eight-year-old Frankie—with ex-husband Will Kopelman. With a family vacation, she said her kids “don’t complain about not liking what they get. ” Barrymore realised she preferred this version of Christmas after breaking her tradition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “I’m fine to skip this,» she said. «This sucks. ”
Drew Barrymore also told ET that she’s started dating again—and it “feels good. ” Back in October, she revealed on her own talk show that she has not been in “an intimate relationship” since her split from Kopelman in 2016.
«I kind of shuttered down for a while. I take breaks, and then I’m like, ‘You know what? I’m ready to try this again,’» she told ET during the interview. “I’m just sort of open to the idea again because I hibernate like a bear in my dating life. I will turn off the app. I will not have it in my world. ”
Barrymore then said that she’s in a dating “on-season,” adding, “There’s been a second and a third date with someone, which is a big deal. I feel like usually it’s one and done because I see their behaviour, and I’m like, ‘This is non-negotiable. This is not a match. ‘”
But how do they feel about Secret Santa?
