Diet Coke just got a sleek makeover and announced four new flavors that will arrive on shelves in two weeks. Ginger Lime, Twisted Mango, Feisty Cherry, and Zesty Blood Orange will all soon be options to satiate your afternoon sugar-craving, and all will come in a skinnier can that looks similar to a Red Bull.
Apparently, the move was calculated to appeal more to millennials, with the company drawing inspiration from cult carbonated water beverage LaCroix.
“Millennials are now thirstier than ever for adventures and new experiences, and we want to be right by their side,” Rafael Acevedo, the group director for Diet Coke in North America, said in a statement. “We’re making the brand more relatable and more authentic. ”
We knew millennials were thirsty, but we didn’t know the answer was Diet Coke. The company also released a video of people trying (and, duh, saying nice things about) the new cans and their contents, including simply “whoa. ” All joking aside, we’ll definitely be giving the new flavors a try – and possibly dreaming up some new mixed drink combinations that play on them.
But if you’re more of a traditionalist, fear not. The signature Diet Coke recipe isn’t going anywhere and will still be available in the old cans. Some things, it turns out, never change.
