Once again, Chrissy Teigen has elevated the deliciousness of one of our favorite childhood sweets, and this time it’s her epic Rice Krispie treats! The Cravings cookbook author recently took to Instagram with her daughter, Luna, to share her secret recipe, which basically follows the original Kellogg’s Rice Krispie treats recipe, but with a few important twists.
Along with these hacks, Chrissy stresses not to press the treats into the pan when you transfer the mixture from the pot. Doing so will flatten the squares and take away from their fluffy texture and taste. Keep reading for Chrissy’s recipe for gooey and stretchy Rice Krispie treats!
Chrissy doesn’t note the exact number of peanut butter chips she uses for the recipe, so just base your measurements on how much peanut butter flavor you want.
- 4 tablespoons butter
1 package (10 oz.) marshmallows
3 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal
1/2 cup peanut butter chips
- Melt butter over low heat in a large pot. Add almost all of the marshmallows (save about two handfuls for later!) and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
- Add cereal and stir until fully incorporated. Add leftover marshmallows and peanut butter chips. Mix until evenly incorporated.
- Spray a 13×9-inch pan with cooking spray. Using a buttered spatula, transfer mixture from the pot to the coated pan. Do NOT press into the pan!
- Let it cool for about 10-to-15 minutes. Cut into squares and enjoy immediately! They’re best if served within the same day.
