Chanel Couture Just Kicked Off A Key Bridal Wedding Dress Trend For 2023

The more devoted fashion fans among us are, of course, well aware of the iconic Chanel bride, who makes her way down every one of the brand’s momentous runways.

But while these tend to be traditionally full-length, this season’s couture show in Paris saw Chanel and Virginie Viard send model Anna Ewers onto the catwalk in a refreshingly short white tulle dress.

Igniting what looks set to be a key wedding dress trend for 2023 — and triggering panic among brides-to-be who have just had their final fitting for a full-length gown (speaking from personal experience…) — the delicate white mini was encased beneath an exquisite fingertip veil featuring embroidered white swallows throughout.

A frilled neckline, thin straps and a marked waistline all added to the feminine whimsy of this bridal moment, while the deep coral lip provided a modern and fresh, spring-like feel.

Of course, this being Chanel, there was nothing obvious or predictable about the styling of this season’s bride, with a white bow tie and the brand’s iconic gold ankle boots giving the look an unexpectedly androgynous feel.

But will the look filter down into the real world of weddings? Kourtney Kardashian might argue that that’s already happened, having opted for a pretty major Dolce & Gabbana mini dress last summer for her wedding to Travis Barker.
