Black Skin Decoded: join us for an evening of all things black beauty

The immersive evening event, taking place on Zoom, will bring together many of the world’s most renowned skincare doctors, makeup artists, cosmetic practitioners and wellbeing experts, as well an audience from all around the world to openly discuss the world of beauty and address concerns that are unique to black skin.

Mark this in your diaries: on Monday 6 July, Black Skin Directory – in partnership with GLAMOUR and Il Makiage – is bringing you Black Skin Decoded, an evening dedicated solely to the unique needs of black skin and wellbeing, as well as providing a platform to celebrate all things black beauty.

Founded by aesthetician Dija Ayodele, the award winning Black Skin Directory connects black women and women of colour with skincare experts, specialised treatments and vital beauty information that meets their needs and ensures access, availability and affordability for all – especially those who are too often underrepresented.

5.30pm: Skincare 101
The first session will have world-leading dermatologists Dr Ifeoma Ejikeme, Dr Amiee Vyas and Dr Anjali Mahto welcoming you to a Skincare 101 to talk through everything from your daily skincare regime to common skin concerns such as hyperpigmentation and different types of scarring. You will discover the best, targeted ingredients to look out for as well as have your skincare questions answered by leading practitioners in the business.

6.30pm: Nips, Tucks WTFs
Next, there will be a no-holds-barred discussion between renowned cosmetic doctors Dr Tijion Esho, Dr Benji Dhillon and Dr Ewoma Ukeleghe discussing cosmetic treatments and injectable aesthetics including fillers and Botox, as well as non-invasive procedures such as laser treatments.

7.30pm: Makeup Masterclass with Il Makiage
As well as unparalleled skincare advice, there’ll also be a makeup masterclass with the experts behind Il Makiage, which is known for its bright, bold and unapologetic makeup as well as its diverse range of foundation shades and truly inclusive ethos. Exploring its pigment-popping products and playing with application techniques, you’ll discover everything the brand has to offer with the help of expert makeup artists.

8.30pm: Myths and Misconceptions
To conclude the evening, there will be a myth-busting conversation about the issues that matter the most to you. Alongside Dr Mayoni, Joy Adenuga and Dr Uche Aniagwu, we welcome an open dialogue on everything from skin bleaching, to reproductive health, heritage skincare and any other topics that may be on your mind.
