Does anyone else have a new-found love for patterned tights? They haven’t always been chic (remember those itchy ones you’d be forced to wear at school? ), but these days tights are actually one of the easiest accessories to utilise.
Need proof? Think back to last winter when nearly every Instagram ‘It’ girl owned a pair of those CC-embroidered Chanel tights. The brand debuted them in a range of different shades on their A/W 2020 catwalk and they were an instant hit. What made them even more appealing was the fact they were so hard to own; you had to (and still have to) buy them from the boutique stores themselves.
Other brands acted on the trend, of course, and soon our feeds were awash with OOTDs and arty detail shots of logo-emblazoned hosiery from Gucci, Balenciaga, Dior and more. Patterned tights became an accessible way of wearing the most coveted labels, so it’s easy to why they were so successful.
Will the trend linger? Chanel has continued to create various iterations of its iconic pair since their success, proving the style is sticking around for good. We’re not complaining.
Finding a pair of tights (patterned or not) that aren’t going to ladder the second you pull them on or go saggy around the crotch area is still as tricky as it’s always been, but it doesn’t have to be a chore. We’ve narrowed down the brands we know and trust below to make it easier — because, trust us, if you want to wear skirts and dresses this season, you’ll be needing some patterned pantyhose underneath.
Polka Dot Tights
Arguably the easiest print to wear, women’s tights of the polka dot variety are already a huge hit this autumn/winter, with influencers Olivia Palermo and Xiayan showcasing them at Fashion Week. They stand out more than usual 30 denier opaque tights do, and they’re certainly on our wishlist.
