J Lo’s Outfit Will Make You Feel Like You Just Walked Into the First Day of Middle School
Jennifer Lopez welcomed Cardi B to the New York City set of Hustlers in the most appropriate way: wearing Juicy Couture velour sweats and a cropped Guess hoodie ($69) that drew attention to her sculpted abs. If you don’t already feel like you’re walking into the first day of seventh grade, focus in on J Lo’s UGG clogs, and that may spark the nostalgia.
In middle school, I used to feel like I needed a pair of J Lo’s velvet track pants to fit in, which is really pretty crazy. What’s even crazier is that when my mom accidentally bought me the terry cloth style, I felt like she had totally messed up. How does one item of clothing become so iconic that you can remember the feeling surrounding the whole experience of wearing it 15 to 20 years later?
J Lo, along with the costume designer on Hustlers, obviously recognize that sentiment, because the star’s character has been dressed in everything from Juicy tees to white flared jeans with going-out tops for the movie, which is set in the 2000s.
While J Lo’s complete look is a clear throwback, you can easily find cropped sweatshirts exactly like hers that would look trendy today with a shoulder bag, cargo pants, and a pair of boots. Keep reading to pick up your favorite version.
You’d Better Believe Kim Kardashian Dressed as Cher For the Met Gala Afterparty
For most Met Gala attendees, the afterparties are an excuse to slip into something a little more comfortable. Not so for Kardashian, who used the gala’s official afterparty as an excuse to show off an even more outrageous and revealing design than the one she wore on the red carpet.
After arriving at the gala in a Thierry Mugler dress that brought a whole new meaning to the phrase “wet look,” Kim kept up the latex theme as she swapped her nude dress for an even shorter and tighter design.
Her skintight blue minidress featured a fringed and beaded neckline that plunged right down to the navel, and it came with matching fingerless gloves and calf boots in the same bright hue. She topped the look with a long, silver beaded wig, which conjured up visions of Cher in the 1970s.
We know that Kim’s a fan of the singer – she dressed up as her for Halloween in 2017 – and Cher actually performed a trio of songs during the Met Gala, so it’s no surprise Kim decided to pay homage once again. Keep reading to see Kim’s look from all angles and to see the Cher look we think she was channeling.
Kylie Jenner Almost Ditched Her Feathery Met Gala Sleeves at the Last Second – Can You Imagine?
Kylie Jenner’s fierce and feathery Versace Met Gala gown might’ve turned out much differently, if not for the encouragement of her sisters. In a behind-the-scenes video released by Vogue on May 8, Kylie revealed her getting ready process, which included a last-minute moment of outfit indecision. Dramatic sleeves or a poofy feathered hat? Thanks to her sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, Kylie took the plunge with the exaggerated sleeves to fit the night’s “Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme.
The Versace design team and Donatella Versace sent Kylie preliminary sketches of her gown four months before the Met Gala. After a few tweaks here and there, they settled on a second-skin crystal mesh design with purple detailing and ostrich feathers, which took 30 days to craft.
On the day of the ball, the dress simply needed a little tightening – and for Kylie to settle on an accessory. Watch the full video below to see the process go down, and learn from Kylie’s meticulous attention to detail. After all, she’ll “never leave the house unless everything is perfect.”
These Celebs Broke the No-Phone Rule at the Met Gala – See All the Dazzling Pics!
Sorry, Anna Wintour, but rules are meant to be broken – especially on fashion’s biggest night of the year. Despite the fact that the Met Gala has a known no-phone regulation, stars always manage to sneak selfies and Instagram videos, and this year was certainly no exception. Serena Williams and Ciara met up for a bathroom photo session, while Lizzo snapped a picture with just about every other celebrity in attendance.
Meanwhile, Eva Chen documented a hilarious story about Lana Condor’s purse getting lost in her enormous dress – yes, really. Ahead, check out these behind-the-scenes snaps to put yourself in the middle of the dazzling action.
