J-Lo makes a case for pole dancing as exercise in the new Hustlers movie

In the scene Jennifer Lopez, who plays exotic dancer and con-artist Ramona, teaches Destiny, played by Constance Wu, how to perform a range of aerial moves such as the ‘carousel,’ the ‘Peter Pan’ and the ‘stag.’

Wearing only a purple sports bra, black knickers, hoop earrings and platform heels, J-Lo looks beyond phenomenal at 50 years old.

If you’ve never considered adding aerobic pole dancing to your fitness regime that’s about to change thanks to the new Hustlers movie. In a sneak peak before the film hits cinemas on September 13, Jennifer Lopez can be seen showing off her impressive muscles and pole dancing skills.

While she makes it look effortless, J-Lo recently confessed that the pole dancing moves she learnt required serious practice. “It’s actually really difficult to do these moves,” the singer and actress told Fandango.

“It takes skill. It’s not like any person can just jump up there and do this. I had a lot of bruises and things.”

But it’s not just Lopez’s muscles and upper body strength that are bound to inspire a new influx of aerobic pole dance classes. Based on a true story of a group of New York strippers stealing money from their Wall Street clients, the film also stars an inspiring female-led cast including Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo and Cardi B.

Not sure if you want to swap a yoga ‘table top’ position for a pole dancing ‘table top’ move? In the words of J-Lo’s character Ramona, “every girl has muscles to do this.”
