As If “Former President” Wasn’t Enough, Obama Can Now, Add “Billboard Chart-Maker”, to His Résumé

After much debate online, it seems the real king of R&B has revealed himself to be Barack Obama.

Billboard recently announced that the former president had landed on the Hot R&B Songs chart for the week of Jan. 5 after “One Last Time (44 Remix)” – which features a spoken word segment by Obama, who recites George Washington’s farewell address – made its way to the 22nd spot.

Released shortly before the holidays, the song by Christopher Jackson and BeBe Winans is a slowed-down, gospel-inspired rendition of the Hamilton song of the same name. In 2009, Obama actually invited Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda to perform at a White House poetry jam.

At the time, Miranda disclosed that he was working on the musical and even performed a version of what would go on to be the opening number. Obama would later attend Hamilton in 2015, the year it debuted on Broadway.
