Angelina Jolie has opened up about Brad Pitt’s decision to work with Harvey Weinstein after alleged sexual assault

Angelia Jolie has spoken candidly about the issues she had in her marriage to Brad Pitt, including the actor’s decision to work with Harvey Weinstein.

Opening up in an interview with The Guardian, Jolie addressed her public divorce and ongoing custody battle, revealing that some of the problems she and Pitt had involved him working with the disgraced filmmaker, who the Maleficent star made claims of sexual harassment against.

Recounting an experienced she had with Weinstein whilst working with him on the 1998 film Playing By Heart, Jolie said: “If you get yourself out of the room, you think he attempted but didn’t, right?

“The truth is that the attempt and the experience of the attempt is an assault… It was beyond a pass, it was something I had to escape. ”

She then explained that the moment was the last time she worked or associated herself with the ex-movie mogul, even warning others in the industry of his predatory behaviour. “I stayed away and warned people about him. I remember telling Jonny Lee Miller, my first husband, who was great about it, to spread the word to other guys – don’t let girls go alone with him,” she continued. “I was asked to do The Aviator, but I said no because he was involved. I never associated or worked with him again. It was hard for me when Brad did. ”

Pitt starred in Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 film Inglourious Basterds, which was co-produced by the Weinstein Company. At the time, he was married to Jolie, who he met in 2004. She then revealed that this wasn’t the only time Pitt had worked with Weinstein, despite her experience with him. In 2012, he allegedly approached Weinstein to work as a producer for the thriller Killing Them Softly, according to Jolie, a film the Weinstein Company later distributed. “We fought about it. Of course it hurt,” she said.

Pitt has yet to respond to the claims, but Weinstein has denied Angelina’s allegations. As per a statement issued by his assistant via TMZ: “THERE WAS NEVER an assault, and NEVER an attempt to assault. It is brazenly untrue. ”

Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year sentence for rape and sexual assault.

Angelina and Brad announced their split in September 2016.
