An Actress Is Suing Harvey Weinstein For Sex Trafficking

The sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein, which now include statements by over 80 women, have given way to similarly disturbing revelations about prominent men in entertainment, politics, and the media, but that doesn’t mean that Weinstein himself is out of the woods.

In fact, the disgraced movie mogul is now being sued for sex trafficking, according to a complaint first obtained by Deadline.

The complaint was filed in New York federal court yesterday by British actress Kadian Noble, who alleges that Weinstein sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in France in 2014. The suit also names Weinstein’s brother, Bob Weinstein, and the Weinstein Company.

“Harvey Weinstein was able to force or coerce Kadian into sexual activity in his hotel room because of his promise to her of a film role and use of his influence on her behalf,” the complaint reads.

“Harvey Weinstein traveled in foreign commerce, knowingly recruiting or enticing Kadian offering her something of value, knowing that he would use this offer as a means to defraud, force or coerce her into a sexual encounter … Harvey Weinstein ultimately forced Kadian into sexual acts. ”

The complaint seeks a jury trial and unspecified damages. A spokesperson for Weinstein said Monday that he “denies allegations of non-consensual sex” and “has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. ” Weinstein is currently also under investigation by the NYPD, the LAPD, the Beverly Hills Police, and UK police.
