Here, in an exclusive interview with GLAMOUR, Milk Makeup Co-Founder, Zanna, talks brand evolution, must-have beauty products and the launch of Milk Makeup in the UK.

Are there any British influences that have been incorporated into Milk Makeup products?

Definitely – and from all over the world! Milk Makeup is inspired by our home, Milk Studios in Downtown NYC. Milk is a mashup of photography studios, creative agencies, and party spaces. It’s long been a hub where there are zero creative limits; welcoming an inclusive, worldwide community. The people who come there to collaborate provide endless inspiration and were the launchpad for creating Milk Makeup.

Milk Makeup and British influence go hand-in-hand because of our shared interest in self-expression and street culture. We crafted Milk Makeup to accommodate an on-the-go lifestyle for people who love to experiment with their looks. Our role is to give you easy-to-use tools to help you express whatever vibe you’re feeling that day.

When our product developer and COO Dianna Ruth is working on our new launches, she’s always thinking about how our products can be innovative, ingredient-focused, and provide epic pay-off.

We cannot wait to see how our UK Milk Makeup Fam live their looks!

Why now to bring Milk Makeup to the UK, and what does the launch mean to you as a Brit?

Of course, as a Mancunian I’m beyond excited to be bringing Milk Makeup to the UK. People have been DM’ing our Instagram for well over a year asking when it will be launching in the UK, so it’s amazing to be able to tell them that it’s finally happening!

Launching in the UK was a natural next step for us. We launched in the US just shy of three years ago and we have worked so hard on our products and formulas to create something for literally everyone. We already have some great supporters in the UK and we can’t wait to officially welcome the UK into the Milk Makeup Fam!

What products do you predict will be a hit with British shoppers?

We are always striving to create the most innovative, good-for-you products at Milk Makeup, that reimagine beauty, not you. I feel with the UK’s sense of style and self-expression, we will see a major interest in our effects and fun accents. I think our iconic sticks will become a quick favourite too, given that they span skincare and makeup and are made for on-the-go application.

And I think that, of course, our KUSH Mascara, one of our bestsellers in the US, will be a hit. It’s a high volume mascara made with conditioning, hemp-derived cannabis seed oil and volumizing heart-shaped fibers. It gives you major lashes without the fallout. It’s a game changer.

What are your personal favourites?

I love the whole collection, but I couldn’t be without the sticks as I’m always on the go. I’m a mum of twins and need to get ready quickly, often in the back of a cab or on a plane. I share how I use our sticks on my Instagram with the hashtag #Zannaquicktricks, so you can see they’re a real life saver.

A couple of hero products you will always find in my bag are the Cooling Water, it’s honestly like putting cold spoons under the eyes. It instantly de-puffs with caffeine and soothes with seawater, and is my best friend when travelling. You will also find our Lip + Cheek in Werk for a healthy glow, Bronzer in Baked – hello 10 second tan, and obviously KUSH mascara to top off any look.
