Alicia Keys, is the first woman, in 14 years to host the Grammys

The biggest night in music is set to get a whole lotta girl power, because the host of the 2019 Grammys has finally been confirmed.

And if anyone’s qualified to host the prestigious awards ceremony, it’s definitely 15-time Grammy award winner and all-round superstar, Alicia Keys.

Keys took to her Instagram stories to make the announcement, saying it was “amazing” to have the chance to move from alumnus to host – the first woman in 14 years to take the podium after Queen Latifah’s turn in 2005.

“I know what it feels like to be on that stage,” she said on Instagram. “I know what it feels like to be proud of the work that you’ve put in and to be recognized for it. I just feel grateful that I’m able to bring that light and that energy. This is a first. This is amazing. I think it’s perfect timing. ”

Keys also made a special Youtube video on her channel titled “I’M HOSTING THE 2019 GRAMMYS” to announce the news, which shows a host of behind-the scenes footage of Keys attending rehearsals and dress fittings, as well as telling her nearest and dearest that she will host the show.

“Honestly, I feel really excited. I feel really good about it, because I feel like it’s the perfect opportunity for me to give the light back and lift people up, especially all the young women who are nominated,” she said in the video. “Like, to me, it feels like sister vibes. And who’s the best sister on planet Earth? ME! ”

Keys has been a regular the Grammy’s since scooping her five awards in 2002, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for “Fallin. ”

“I know what it feels like to be on that stage, and I’m going to bring that vibe and energy,” Keys added in a press statement. “I’m so excited to be the master of ceremonies on the biggest night in music and celebrate the creativity, power and, magic. I’m especially excited for all the incredible women nominated this year! ”

The Grammys announced the full list of nominations last month, with a decent number of female artists in the mix, including Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Cardi B, and Camila Cabello.
