A. Human, the body-morphing accessories brand loved by Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen, is set to be huge in 2019

With 2018 coming to a close, we’re already predicting what’s going to be big next year and our bets are on A. Human.

So, you’re wondering, what the heck is it? A new Scandi brand you’ve not heard of? Something timelessly cool from Paris? Nope…it’s actually an accessories brand from New York like no other.

You see, A. Human create body ‘jewellery’. Not any old jewellery; these are, in fact, adornments that look like alien appendages, as if they’re made from your own skin growths. We know, kind of weird but also BRILLIANT for fancy dress. Like something we would have seen showcased in The Hunger Games Capitol.

The fashion brand debuted by opening an immersive exhibition at New York Fashion Week in September 2018, with models (who everyone thought were mannequins) appearing with webbed feet and odd growths. Not the sort of thing most fashion editors were, um, used to seeing as they sipped on their turmeric lattes.

The brand, established by Society of Spectacle, offers customers the opportunity to customise the appearance of parts of their bodies with accessories that are predominately made of cultured keratin to make it look like flesh. Founder Simon Huck (a famous NY publicist and long-time Kardashian associate) said of the exhibition, “It was important to root this experience in optimism while provoking our guests to think about a potential future of fashion, and by doing so, inviting them to question their definitions of self-expression. ”

Around the same time as their debut at New York Fashion Week, the brand teamed up with the likes of Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen to create bespoke pieces for them to wear – and, of course, Instagram, sending fans into speculation – were these real implants? Are they permanent?

Sadly, you can’t just buy them online just yet and the brand’s website doesn’t make it clear if they’re available for general purchase or only by bespoke commissions.

Either way, we reckon they’re one to watch.
