Back in the beginning of March when we went into lockdown, it felt like Christmas had literally just ended, it was still bitterly cold outside and we had the hopes of Rona kickin’ it before the Autumn.
But alas, here we are, #stayinghome and death-staring every piece of furniture we own and assessing every interior-choice we’ve ever made.
If you’re eyeing-up your living-room, office, or bedroom and you feel like it needs a little refresh but you really CBA with all the effort of re-styling the whole room, an accent chair is your saving grace.
Not only can they spice-up your living-space just in time for Christmas, it’ll give you a new little nook within your home to cosy-up with a fluffy blanket, cup of tea and escape the rona-induced headlines with your favourite book, podcast or new Netflix binge (my money’s on Emily in Paris).
Longtime favourite, velvet, seems to be the most popular choice when it comes to texture, but coming up close in popularity is bouclé – a nobbly-bobbly texture that we’re seeing more and more of in the world of interiors. Likewise, cane-webbing is still a strong choice, along with faux cow-hide and linen.
Earthy colours like yellows, oranges, beiges, browns are always the go-to this time of year. If your room is totally neutral then you could take this opportunity to add in a new accent of colour, a statement chair is a great place to start. If your room is beige, grey or white; why not add in a pop of deep green, azure blue or blush pink – colours that are all very popular right now.
If you want to stick to your neutral colour palette, maybe a beige chair is the one for you, it is Dulux’s colour of the year after all. You can still be fancy and beige, just try to focus on shape and texture instead.
Retailers are really branching-out with new shapes; we’re seeing lots of scalloped edges, sunken snugglers and sculptural silhouettes. The more peculiar the better!
There’s a sea of options when it comes to online shopping for your perfect statement chair. We’ve picked out the trendiest chairs available right now, so take your pick…
