2018 Golden Globes Beauty: Best Hair and Makeup

The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards have become defined by the actresses and actors who wore all black to protest sexual harassment and gender inequality.

But there were also some great beauty looks that added a finishing touch to the sentiment of it all.

From statement-making hairstyles to makeup with hidden messages, here’s a closer look at some of the best beauty looks from last night’s momentous awards ceremony.

Jessica Biel

Staying true to the night’s cause, the Sinner star wore a black Dior Haute Couture gown. Her hair was styled in a sophisticated low ponytail, which she paired with a pretty pink lip and smokey eye.

“To complement Jessica’s Dior couture dress, I created a classic look with a modern edge–a luxurious low slung ponytail with a deep side part that was swept off the face,” says celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel of the look.

Viola Davis

Rocking her#blackgirlmagic, Viola Davis, who has been known to embrace her natural texture both on screen and off, hit the red carpet with her hair in a voluminous ‘fro.

The actress paired the look with copper eye shadow and lipstick.

Mandy Moore

The This Is Us actress went with a super-sleek bun styled by celebrity hairstylist Ashley Streicher for Garnier. After creating a smooth ponytail, Streicher twisted the hair into a bun around the elastic, secured with pins, and then pulled at the bun for a bit of fullness and texture.

Celebrity makeup artist Matin Maulawizada finished the look with a bright red liquid lipstick by Charlotte Tilbury that matched the sash on Moore’s Rosie Assoulin gown.

Zoë Kravitz

Always fearless in regard to style, the Big Little Lies actress did not disappoint on last night’s red carpet.

A bold burgundy lip added edge to her signature pixie, natural freckles, and perfectly-sculpted brows.

Claire Foy

The Crown’s Claire Foy paired her menswear-inspired suit with a structured updo and standout lip. “Both Claire and I were very inspired by old Yves Saint Laurent and Helmut Newton looks and imagery,” says OGX brand ambassador Jillian Halouska.

“We wanted her look to be both strong and soft, masculine and feminine. ” Mission accomplished.

Elizabeth Moss

Winner of Best Actress in a TV Drama, Moss went with an effortlessly elegant updo. Celebrity stylist for Garnier, Tommy Buckett, created the look by separating a loose ponytail into two sections and tying the two pieces into a knot at the base before pinning.

For her makeup, she stuck with her signature simplicity, sporting a soft pink lip and defined eyes.

Tracee Ellis Ross

The actress, who wore an all-black Marc Jacobs gown, emphasized the statement by sweeping her curls into a matchingMarc Jacobs satin turban.

This highlighted her fresh, freckled face and matte rouge lip (we are beginning to see a trend here).

Alison Brie

Golden Globe nominee Alison Brie chose a classic hair and makeup combo. “We went with an Audrey-inspired top knot and side-swept bangs, and I hair-sprayed the updo within an inch of its life because Alison’s hair is cut into a shag for GLOW, and I didn’t want any pieces to spring loose,” says celebrity stylist Peter Butler of her style.

“She looks incredibly elegant. ” Her soft red lip and clean eyed paired perfectly.

Penelope Cruz

Cruz, who presented during the ceremony, channeled Old Hollywood glamour with soft, side-swept waves. As for makeup, celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury wanted to play up her signature style.

“Penélopewas wearing a mesmerizing Mediterranean Dolce Vita-inspired fitted black dress by Ralph and Russo couture. I wanted to create her signature, hypnotising, bronze smoky eye with a fuller, wider nude-y pink lip,” she said.

Halle Berry

The actress accessorized her Zuhair Murad mini dress with stunningSwarovski’s Helen Clip On Earrings. “We chose to wear Halle’s hair half-up because we wanted to do something that felt fresh and effortless. The wispy bangs and face-framing pieces kept the look soft and romantic.

I call it bohemian fullness,” adds Castillo Bataille, a celebrity stylist for OGX. Her radiant skin and soft pink lip added another romantic element to the look.

Susan Kelechi Watson

The This Is Us actress was another star to embrace her natural texture on the red carpet.

Wearing ablack wideleg jumpsuit and what her stylist Vernon François calls a “bobfro,” she walked with equal parts sass and class. Natural-looking makeup completed the look.

Margot Robbie

Robbie, who was nominated for her role in I, Tonya, went with a polished wave and pop of color on the lips. Celebrity makeup artistPati Dubroff told PopSugar that “the incredible beadwork on the dress called for a chic lip. ”

She used three shades of Chanel lip color to achieve the deep orchid gradation.

Kerry Washington

The Scandal star showed up with no-fuss waves styled by Takisha Sturdivant. Her eyes were lined with a pretty purple eyeliner and long lashes.

Celebrity makeup artist Carola Gonzalez suggested the purple liner for the momentous night, as the color represents “loyalty, purpose, and inserting steadfastness to a cause. ”

Sharon Stone

From her spiked crop to her insanely-smooth skin, Stone, who was a presenter, looked ageless on the red carpet.
