Why ‘jarfing’ is the bizarre new fashion trend celebrities can’t get enough of

Winter is fast approaching, and while it may just be our favourite season in terms of fashion, there’s nothing worse than wanting to wear that top you’ve been meaning to debut but shows a little too much skin for -5 degrees.

But some of our favourite celebrities might just have solved all of our cold weather woes, by doing something so basic we don’t know how we didn’t think of it earlier.

The likes of Gigi Hadid and Alexa Chung have been spotted donning the new ‘jarfing’, which replaces a traditional scarf with a stylish jumper.

The classic ‘yacht’ look has been around for a while, but now savvy brands are cashing in by offering all-in-one jumper/scarf hybrids that look like both items in one- including high-end designer, Celine.

Lucas Armitage, stylist and creative director of poisedlondon. com, told MailOnline: “Jarfing sounds like an unfortunate bodily function one could do without, but it’s actually the latest trend seen on the A-list fashionistas.

“Jarfing may at first glance sound like a ridiculous notion, but its practicality has some useful applications.

“We are in the transitional period of not always requiring a knitted layer so having draped and tied isn’t just a stylised aesthetic; it’s is also a way of carrying a warmer layer of you need one.

“Unlike most trends we can all dip into jarfing easily by using our existing knitwear and simply getting creative. ”

Take that, winter!
