By day, Rebecca Minkoff is busy running a fashion empire…but when she’s not in her NYC office, the multi-tasking mom can be found spending time with her family, which includes her husband, Gavin, and two children, Luca and Bowie Lou.
The talented designer is gearing up for the arrival of her third little one, so when we got to catch up with Rebecca at the launch of her Stella Dot jewelry collaboration at While We Were Young, we had to ask her for some stylish maternity advice.
Rebecca admits that being pregnant is quite different this time around. “So this pregnancy’s different. With the first two, my advice was to buy a size bigger, but it’s not working for this one, so HATCH maternity, HATCH Collection.
I love her stuff because you still feel stylish, and then I’m still able to mix in a couple of my baggier things, like my A-line dresses or maxi dresses, but definitely I’m buying way more maternity clothes this round than I’ve ever bought before,” she says.
The designer says that it’s important to add an element to your look that makes you feel good about yourself, especially when you’re expecting – and for Rebecca, that’s eyelashes. “Eyelashes make everything better, like I’m definitely gonna schedule my eyelashes right before I give birth so that in all my pictures I look fresh,” she says. “Cause if you’re having a bad day or you’re bloated and you got the glue-on lashes, you’re good! ”
Another great way to glam up your look? With accessories, like the stylish pieces in Rebecca Minkoff’s first Stella Dot collection. “What we really wanted to do was tocater to two different women or the same woman in different moods with very delicate jewelry that she can wear all day every day, and then heighten it with some statement jewelry that really felt more evening appropriate as we go into the holidays. Just being able to put on those earrings and feel like you don’t need to worry about your outfit,” she says.
So, with a stylish slew of baubles to choose from, what’s the one accessory everyone should add to their wardrobe this season? “I think we’re in the season of the statement earring, due to the selfie nature of our society at the moment, so definitely the statement earring,” she says.
