These colourful knits are the update your wardrobe needs right now

Autumn: so far, so drab, right? Sunshine is a distant memory (along with rooftop drinks, festivals and bare legs) and jumpers and scarves become your uniform.

Hate it or love it (be honest, do you really prefer winter weather, or do you just love tights? ), this time of year means wool is firmly back in your life.

But when the sky’s looking grey, resist the urge to don your darkest clothes. Primary colour combos were everywhere on the AW18 catwalks (just ask Prada or Balenciaga), and there is no better fix for post-summer blues than adding some eye-catching brights to your look.

But because we don’t have a designer budget, we’ve trawled the high street to find wallet-friendly alternatives. Enter Swedish brand Lindex’s 2018 Knits collection, which has taken inspiration from street style around the world, influencers and social media to create a range of super-wearable, sustainable knitwear that will make you stand out in a sea of grey.

Take this fuchsia-pink rollneck – its slightly oversized silhouette taps into another major trend for AW18, as well as being so cosy, it’s like a hug in a jumper. Warning: you may never want to take it off. Or how about a bright-blue or zesty-lemon sweater? Pair with a satin skirt or checked trousers for an unexpected texture clash.

These pieces are made from long-lasting merino, alpaca and cashmere wools, so you’ll wear them season after season, making them a sustainable choice.

And when the weather gets really cold, we love this giant fringed wool scarf to layer up over your knits. Add a cashmere hat and some leather mittens and you are ready for anything winter throws at you.

Is it just us, or is cold weather suddenly looking a lot more appealing? *Orders the lot…*
