The Tracksuit Trend Gets A Modern Update

The tracksuit was a defining silhouette in the early ’00s, reminiscent of the pre-Instagram era ruled by Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan–and Juicy Couture was the brand of choice for the celeb set everywhere, as they proudly sported the trend, (and the words ‘Juicy’), across their backsides.

Well, not only did the brand make a major resurgence, which is due, in part, to the return of nostalgic fashion trends and logomania, but the comfort and ease of the tracksuit also staged a major fashion revival, with designers from the likes of Gucci and Valentino sending chic versions down the runway.

The trend crept back onto our style radar a little over a year ago, and now there are more ways than ever before to sport the styles.

Given the rise of the athelisure market, it comes as no surprise to see the comfort and ease of the tracksuit back in style. Gone are the days of low-slung, hip-hugging pants–very much like the clientele who rocked the trend over a decade ago, the silhouette has gotten a sophisticated, grown-up update and brands are reimagining new ways to sport the style that extend far beyond the typical two-piece set…although let’s get real: we’re all for throwing on a comfortable pair of joggers that also look polished and cool.

One of the most popular brands to capitalize on the return of the tracksuit is Adidas–and we especially love the new silhouettes they’ve added to their collection, like a longer, draped version of the traditional track jacket, which you can easily throw over staples you already have hanging in your closet for a trendy, put together look.
