After writing about the Environmental Working Group’s sunscreen report last month, I realized that – much to my chagrin – all of the sunscreens I had at home contained at least one of the harmful chemicals that the EWG advises against for the health of both people and the environment.
Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for sunscreens without oxybenzone and retinyl palmitate, because I’m not tryna mess with hormone disruptors and tumor-causers on the daily.
I’ve recently replaced my daily facial sunscreen, which contained oxybenzone, with Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen. To be perfectly honest, I probably wouldn’t have picked this up if it hadn’t crossed my desk as a sample from the brand – I’m a cheap drugstore gal whenever possible – but having used it, I’m getting seriously hooked.
This stuff disappears into skin without leaving behind any whiteness or greasiness, and the texture is so velvety-smooth that it actually makes makeup go on easier. It’s definitely going to be my staple for the rest of the season.
