The New 50 Shades of Grey Book Just Got an Official Release Date

E. L. James has announced that the second book in her new Fifty Shades-based trilogy,DARKER: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian, will drop on November 28.

The books rehash the events of the original Fifty Shades novels, two of which have already been adapted to film, but from the perspective of wealthy S&M enthusiast Christian Grey, rather than his paramour Ana Steele.

The idea is toprovide insight into the mind of one of the mostcontroversialcharacters incontemporary literature, but I would argue that the real achievement here is the sheer number of plays on the words “shades” and “darker” James and her editors have managed to come up with for book titles over the course of the series.

“The inside of Christian Grey’s head is a fascinating place to be,” James said in a press release. “InGreywe got the first glimpse of what makes Christian tick, but inDarkerwe go deeper, into his most painful memories and the encounters that made him the damaged, demanding man Ana falls in love with. Writing this novel has been a journey of discovery, and I hope readers will find what I’ve learned as compelling as I did. ”

“Christian Grey is one of the most conflicted and charismatic heroes of modern fiction, and this new book is full of surprises,” added editor Selina Walker. “In Darker, Ana and Christian confront some seemingly insuperable challenges, and I – like millions of otherFiftyfans – can’t wait to discover more. ”

With less than two months until you’ll be able to cop the new novel – just in time for some steamy Thanksgiving weekend reading that you probably won’t want to do around your family – go ahead and get your whips and ball gags ready. Even if only in your head.
