I don’t personally know very many teens, but based on what I’ve seen around Los Angeles and in YouTube videos, I picture them in a uniform of crop tops and either high-waisted shorts or high-waisted leggings.
I also know that teens and college students are the target demographic for the Victoria’s Secret-owned Pink brand, which is why I feel particularly silly about the fact that I just can’t stop wearing a pair of Pink high-waisted leggings.
Disclosure: I purchased them with a gift card given to me by the brand. I’m literally wearing them as I write this.
They’re not only the most comfortable “pants” I own, but I also like the way I look in them: The high waist creates a nice silhouette and feels supportive but not constricting, and they come in a cropped length that hits my ankle at just the right point.
They’ve become my go-tos for everything from working from home to watching TV to doing yoga. Still, I can’t help but feel a little embarrassed by the little white dog logo near my left ankle that basically feels like a sign that says “you’re too old to be wearing these. ”
But at the same time, I feel tempted to buy another pair, because unlike leggings from age-appropriate brands that are targeting me, they cost under $40.
