Lottie Tomlinson on her beauty hacks, brow game and how to get the perfect tan

Lottie Tomlinson is taking the beauty world by storm. At just 19-years-old, she has 3. 3 million Instagram followers, has released a beauty book, has been named an ambassador for Avon and Nails Inc, and she’s well on her way to creating a cruelty-free, vegan and totally science-led beauty empire.

We caught up with her at the launch of her new Tanologist range to quiz her on all things beauty. . .

My favourite part of launching this product line was…

I think it was designing it all, the packaging, and working out the best way to create the perfect tan. I wanted it to not break me out, not be streaky and be vegan and cruelty-free. I feel like I’ve nailed the formula which is really cool.

I don’t have a tanning hack…

I’ve never really found a good way not to get your tan streaky, that’s why I’ve tried to make this so it doesn’t. I always find no matter what, it just streaks, and I think that’s down to the colouring they put in it. With Tanologist, it’s clear so you don’t get that guide colour so it can’t streak.

My brow hack is…

I like using a pencil, I used to use a brow pomade but I really like a pencil now. I just fill them in, brush them out, I think that’s really important so they don’t get too blocky. I actually use hair gel in them to get the spiky look which keeps them in place all day. I use the Bleach Well Gel.

My favourite makeup trend of RN is…

The really highlighted look – the extra glow. Using the highlighter drops and putting a powder on top. I wear it all year round!

My least favourite makeup trend is…

I’m not really a fan of the whole ‘weird brows trend’ – I can’t get on board with that. There are so many trends now. A normal brow is fine by me Laughs.

How to get my lived-in hair look…

I do like to style my hair but then I really brush it out afterwards so it looks more natural. Curling with straighteners is good so it’s not too poofy, brush it out, spray it with salt spray or dry shampoo or even just scrunch it with water.

How I keep my pink hair maintained…

I shampoo it with Rosé Shampoo from Bleach and use the Awkward Peach shampoo sometimes too if I want it a bit more peachy.

I chill out by…

I literally just like staying at home, chilling, watching films but then I also like going out with my friends when I’ve got free time, so I always try and make sure I’ve got time to do both – I like to balance the two.

My wellness hack is…

I started working out a few months ago and I’ve been finding it’s really good for a bit of therapy. I’ve really been enjoying that. I go three times a week and I actually find I feel different when I go away and I’ve not been working out – I don’t feel as good. Exercise is so good for keeping your head on.

I think I’ve been doing it for so long now that I’m just used to it. It seems natural to me. If I’m going on a day out, I’ll want to Story it – I don’t really find it gets too much. I’m just so used to it, I actually really enjoy sharing what I do with my friends.

My advice for someone who’s being cyberbullied would be…

When I used to get hate, I used to really let it bother me and reply, but I think the best thing to do is just ignore it. It annoys them more and if you just ignore it and get on with it and don’t let it bother you – I know it’s easier said than done – but just try and stay strong.

My fashion rule? I don’t have one…

I don’t really live by a fashion rule. If you like it, then you wear it – there are no rules.

My favourite product in my makeup bag right now is…

The Tanologist drops – I take them everywhere with me. I mix them with my moisturiser or foundation, can’t live without them at the minute.

Next for Lottie is…

I want to add more products into the range and I’m excited to see how these products are received and to get feedback from everyone and improving it.
