Bikinis and one-pieces featuring your favorite timeless print. Stripes and the sea have been a classic pairing at least since 1858, when the Breton stripe became part of the official uniform of the navy in Northern France.
Perhaps that’s a part of the reason striped swimwear is so appealing – though the silhouettes of what we wear to the ocean may have changed over the years, stripes have remained constant by the seaside.
That’s not to say modern iterations have to look old-fashioned.
