John Legend Will Be One of Google Assistant’s 6 New Voices

We’ve all seen that Alexaad: Having lost her voice, Amazon’s virtual assistant requires some last-minute substitution from the vocal stylings of Gordon Ramsay, Cardi B, Rebel Wilson, and Sir Anthony Hopkins – to hilarious results.

Well, on Tuesday, John Legendand Google teamed up to make what probably started off as an extended joke a reality. At the annual Google I/O conference, The Next Webreported, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Google Assistant would be getting six new voices, one of whom will be Mr. Chrissy Teigen.

According to The Next Web, Sundar said that the John Legend–voiced Google Assistant won’t be able to respond to every single inquiry, but he will be able to cover the basics like, say, the weather.

John himself has yet to comment about his next big role, but Chrissy took to Twitter shortly after the announcement to share her thoughts on the gig. “I don’t even need human John anymore,” she joked.

This isn’t the only quirky side job the singer/songwriter has taken on recently. Just last week, John received a Tony nomination for a song he wrote for the SpongeBob SquarePantsmusical. This prompted Chrissy to express herself via her favorite medium, Twitter. “John got nominated for a Tony this morning for a song he apparently wrote for Spongebob Squarepants,” she tweeted.

“Why does he not tell me when he writes Spongebob songs? ? What else is he lying about? ? Are there other songs out there? ? ” And, a couple days before, he and Charlamagne tha God briefly acted as history tutors to Kanye West, texting him to clear up some misconceptions about the Civil War and the Civil Rights Act. So, we can’t help but wonder, what will John do next?
