How To Reset your Bumble Account

Bumble is a dating app with a difference. Not only can you find your one true love, you can find a BFF too. The other significant difference is that is puts the power firmly in the hands of female users.

Even though I write this as a male, I think giving women control is a good thing. That doesn’t mean everything is a bed of roses though which is why I will show you how to reset your Bumble account.

There are many reasons why you might want to reset your Bumble account. You may have swiped through all the opportunities in your area and not found anyone. You may have taken higher quality pictures and want to use them in your profile. You may have changed job, city or lifestyle and want to reflect that in Bumble. Or you might just want a change and start again.

Whatever your reasons for wanting to refresh your Bumble experience, you can.

Reset your Bumble account

The upside to resetting your Bumble account is that as long as you do it correctly, you wipe the slate clean. You can use new images, a new bio or even a new Facebook account. To reset your Bumble account you need to delete it and then start a new one.

One thing to note is the warning from Bumble you see when deleting your account that says something like “warning, if you recreate your account you won’t match with the top bees”. As far as I can tell, this is an empty threat to try to dissuade you from deleting and restarting in order to keep the community healthy. While I haven’t done it myself, I know a couple of people who have reset their Bumble accounts with no apparent problems.

Here’s how to reset your Bumble account.

  1. Open up your Bumble app.
  2. Select Settings and scroll to the bottom of the page.
  3. Select Delete account.
  4. Type ‘delete’ into the box when prompted.

This will delete your Bumble account completely but there is another step you need to do in order to fully reset. You will need to break the link between Bumble and Facebook. If you don’t, when you come to starting a new Bumble account it will just pick up the existing link rather than creating a new one.

On a phone:

  1. Log into Facebook.
  2. Navigate to Settings and Account Settings.
  3. Select Apps and Logged in with Facebook.
  4. Select Bumble and then Remove app.
  5. Confirm the removal when prompted.

In a desktop browser:

  1. Log into Facebook.
  2. Select Settings and Apps and websites from the left menu.
  3. Select Bumble from the list.
  4. Select Remove app and confirm.

Now your Bumble account is properly deleted. To fully reset your account you will need to create a new one. First, download a fresh copy of the Bumble app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and install it. We then need to link it once more to Facebook.

What you do next depends on why you are resetting your Bumble account. If you want to improve your chances with a better set of images, bio or have made changes to your Facebook information such as city or career, make those changes in Facebook first. Then set up Bumble. If you just want a second round with the same information, go right ahead and set up Bumble.

  1. Open the Bumble app on your phone.
  2. Set up your profile and link it to your Facebook account. Make changes to your Facebook profile before doing this if you need to.
  3. Set up your Bumble profile so it makes you look good.
  4. Use the app as you see fit.
Do the same thing, get the same results

If you have been a Bumble user previously, you will already know that while the app seeks to be different it is still all about the looks. If you are planning to reset your Bumble account, take a good look at it and consider making changes before setting up a new one.

If you were previously successful and just want to reset your matches, you may not need to make changes. If you were dissatisfied with your performance first time round, make some changes. Consider whether your images show you off at your best, your bio says what it needs to say to attract someone or your replies to conversations were putting people off. If you do the same thing you will get the same results and nowhere is that more true and online dating!
