If it feels like Cardi B has been everywhere lately, thats probably because yep, shes been everywhere lately promoting her new album, “Invasion of Privacy. ”
Shes been explaining the New Deal toGQs Caity Weaver, announcing plans for her own clothing line with Fashion Nova and, perhaps most visibly, making the rounds at 30 Rock. First, the rapper performed on “SNL” and officially confirmed those pregnancy rumors while wearing a bump-displaying Christian Siriano gown.
On Monday, Cardi made another appearance on the NBC airwaves, this time on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where she debuted thetelevision performance of her song, “Money Bag. ” And while she did it in true, show-stealing Cardi B fashion, her look — which featured a close-cropped blonde wig, latex bustier and plenty of gold buckles, chains and hardware — also paid homage to fashion icons past.
As noted by the always clued-in Diet Prada on Instagram, Cardi Bs “Fallon” ensemble was a clear nod to a similar Chanel look worn by none other than Linda Evangelista in a 1995 spread forHarpers Bazaar. Diet Prada also pointed out that the look features “a touch of Gianni as well. ”
Cardi Bs iteration was the work of stylist Kollin Carter, who relied on latex pieces from a brand called Vex and custom-made accessories he commissioned from metal apparel and accessories designer Lauren DeWitt, who counts Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Lil Kim, Lenny Kravitz and Khloé Kardashain amongst her clientele.
