A look back at Dior’s most memorable red carpet moments ahead of the much-anticipated exhibition

“There is no other country in the world, besides my own, whose way of life I like so much”, said Parisian Christian Dior of England. “I love English traditions, English politeness, English architecture. I even love English cooking. ” And the love is very much reciprocated.

One of the world’s most popular high-end brands year after year, season after season, Christian Dior’s label has proven a fitting legacy to the man himself long after his passing 61 years ago.

Which is why the announcement of an upcoming exhibition dedicated to him and his fashion house back in July was both thrilling and unsurprising in equal measure.

This is (officially! ) the most popular handbag of the season

Hosted at the V&A, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams will run from February 2 – July 14 2019 and will be the largest and most comprehensive Dior exhibition ever staged in the UK. It will be the biggest since 2015’s sell-out success Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.

Drawn from the extensive Dior archives, the exhibition will showcase “over 500 objects, with over 200 rare Haute Couture garments shown alongside accessories, fashion photography, film, perfume, make-up, illustrations, magazines, and Christian Dior’s personal possessions. ”

Dior confirms first ever female creative director

And while the brand’s story is adored by fashion fans and historians alike, it is the world’s best-dressed celebrities who tend to showcase its pieces to the masses.
