When Tom Ford kicked off New York Fashion Week’s Fall 2018 season with models in glitzy, oversized chandelier earrings and ’80s-inspired frosted hoops, one thing was made clear: The forthcoming runways were going to be all about statement jewels. Designers didn’t want dainty or delicate; instead, they wanted bold, larger-than-life ear adornments. Even when it came to the classics, such as good hoops, brands like Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Marni and Y Project, found ways to make the gilded circles thicker, shinier and more in-your-face.
